Check out my
awesome Saab adventure !
Me and my
brother Dave drove my 1968 Saab 95 (OLBLUE) from Massachusetts to Washington
State for the 2004 Saab Owners Convention at Crystal Mountain. This seemed like
a good idea, sometime in March when August seemed a long way away...We met up
with John Moss and his daughter in Spokane, WA, and had a caravan of 2 to
Crystal Mountain. On the way back, we stopped in Fort Dodge, Iowa, home of Tom
Donney Motors.
We had a great day in Iowa, checking out Tom's Saab museum and greater Saab
collection! It was there I picked up my new 1967 Saabo camper trailer. We left
Tom's around 6:30 PM on Wednesday after the SOC, and just stayed ahead of some
really bad weather...There were 30 tornados reported all around the Fort Dodge
area the night we left. We ended up in Illinois that night- again, just ahead of
a major front. I spent the night in the Saabo, and felt quite safe- despite the
lightning striking the nearby corn field. We made it there and back- with
OLBLUE, the Saabo and me and my brother intact! I did a little maintenance along
the way, stuff like bulbs, brake adjustment and that sort of thing, but suffered
no major failures. All in all, I would do it again tomorrow! It was a great
adventure. Click the link below for the pictures!
