I have been having an
intermittent problem with my '99 'Busa for about a year...
Occasionally, when decelerating quickly, (especially when hot) my bike
would stall.
Other times it would cut out or surge under hard acceleration...
Generally felt slower and lacking something...
It seemed to run rich all the time-regardless of the map loaded into the
PCII.
Even on the dyno at 11k rpm it was pumping out black smoke.
I noticed slight back firing when decelerating at most speeds after
running at higher rpms.
I had the dealer replace the fuel filters in the pump about 2k miles
ago...No change.
After a few long rides recently, I had finally had enough of it.
I entered a very tight corner at 5-6k rpm,
chopped the throttle and when I got back on the bike cut out so
violently I almost lost it...fellow 'Busa rider on my tail...NOT GOOD.
I've followed the blocked fuel filter issue for months,
and figured it was time to investigate for myself...
I removed the pump and injectors and inspected all screens and filters:
Injector screens-mild copper contamination.
Regulator screen-blocked solid.
Paper filter element-appeared to be slightly copper colored as well.
Pre-pump filter screen-mildly clogged.
I removed all the injector filters, regulator filter, both pump
filters.
I added a K+N Billet filter between the pump and injector rail.
Replaced the fuel pump feed line with standard double wall 3/8 fuel
line-installed the original fuel line metal wound sheath over it-using
standard screw type clamps.
The original showed signs of having been kinked...
I also swapped out my PCII.
Loaded a map from TMH.
I could not believe the difference!

Much smoother, instant acceleration, crisp throttle response...
I took a 150-mile ride through some twisty stuff, lots of shifting and
throttle changes..
My 'Busa has NEVER run this well!!!
All running problems solved.
Performance increase significant-feels like 10 HP !!!
